Our club’s first experience of playing men was at the 2018 London & South East Regional festival in Crystal Palace, where the Regional squad played an exhibition match against Knights Men’s Netball. In the two seasons since, Knights 1st & 2nd teams have been invited to numerous training sessions to give our squads additional match practice ahead of tough weekend games. The men have offered all of our teams, including our National Prem 1 ladies, healthy competition providing the unique opportunity for us to practice against new levels of athleticism (& height!) and develop tactics against different styles of play. Most recently, New Cambell Head Coach & ex-England player Pat Watson formed part of the EMMNA selection committee for the Men’s & Mixed Netball World Cup England trials and was not only impressed by the talent on show, but also excited about what the involvement of men could offer the club’s development.
Three New Cambell players already form part of the EMMNA committee & have been heavily involved in the work being done to open up netball to all. New Cambell now wishes to invite all male netballers of all levels to express their interest in joining us for the upcoming season. We look forward to supporting the rise of men’s & mixed netball in the UK.
